University of Wisconsin Plays Major Role in Leading Innovative Companies

University of Wisconsin Center for Space Automation Plays Key Role in Aerospace Technology
Leading our aerospace industry is Milwaukee-founded Astronautics, the world's largest designer and manufacturer of cockpit systems for military aircraft. It is working closely with the University of Wisconsin Center for Space Automation and Robotics on such futuristic projects as mining the moon for helium 3, a material with incredible electric power producing potential and using magnetic refrigeration to reach absolute zero, which may help reduce the greenhouse effect. With over 5,500 employees worldwide, Astronautics operates its headquarters in Wisconsin. "We're very pleased with the educational facilities, the way of life and the work ethic of the people here," says Nathan Zelazo, president of Astronautics.

Transfer of Applicable Technology
Let other schools talk about a commitment to helping innovative companies. No public institution - anywhere - spends as much on transfer of applicable technology to private industry as the University of Wisconsin. The Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) is another invaluable resource to Wisconsin's Entrepreneurs. MSOE teams up with our businesses in more than 100 projects each year and is nationally renowned for its achievement in applied biomedical and fluid power research. Marquette University, also in Milwaukee, excels in biomedical, electrical engineering and computer science research.
