World's toughest specialty truck manufacturer to expand

When the U.S. Army needs high-mobility tactical trucks for their operations around the world, or the FBI wants a new, first-of-its-kind custom command post vehicle for use during the presidential inauguration and national emergencies, who do they call?

Well, it’s a good bet they call Wisconsin’s Oshkosh Truck Corporation — the world’s toughest specialty truck manufacturer. In fact, so many have been calling Oshkosh Truck lately for their tactical vehicles, fire trucks, ambulances, refuse vehicles and related equipment that they are expanding again.

Oshkosh Truck has announced plans to acquire additional manufacturing facilities near its headquarters in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The company will also be investing $5-million in a 45,000-square-foot expansion of its new product development facility.

Over the past 18 months, the company has added about 200 employees to its new product development, defense engineering and manufacturing assembly, and the expanded facility will provide needed space for the expanded work force.

In 2004, Oshkosh Truck surpassed $2 billion in sales for the first time, achieved record operating income and was named one of the Best Managed Companies in America by Forbes magazine. The firm employs over 7,000 worldwide.

Oshkosh Truck Corporation - a true Wisconsin success story.
