Wisconsin is #1 in Papermaking

Wisconsin’s forest product industry employs more than 72,000 people. The forest product industries in Wisconsin account for 14.4% of manufacturing jobs and is the number 1 employer in 23 counties in Wisconsin. Employee compensation for Wisconsin’s forest product industry for 2005 was 3.1 billion dollars. Wisconsin is second in the nation in employment and compensation, with California being number 1. 

Pulp, paper and allied firms provide 37,400 high quality jobs in which the pay is 60% higher than the state average. In the state, paper and allied firms account for 13.4% of the manufacturing jobs. The value of shipments for the pulp, paper and allied firms is estimated to be about 16 billion dollars.

Wisconsin’s printing and paper converting industry employs an additional 46,000 workers with employee compensation of 2.5 billion dollars. With a value of shipments estimated to be about 8.4 billion dollars.

Wisconsin is #1 in the nation in value of shipment of the forest industry with a value of shipments of 20 billion dollars. 

International Woodworking Fair (IWF) - Atlanta, GA
The International Woodworking Machinery & Furniture Supply Fair – USA (IWF) is the largest woodworking technology trade show in the Western hemisphere. It is held every other year at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, GA and is recognized around the world as the preeminent event for introducing and selling manufacturing equipment, supplies and innovative new technology. IWF attracts over 43,000 visitors from every level of the industry and over eighty countries. IWF 2008 already has nearly 1,000 exhibitors and close to 800,000 net square feet of exhibit space sold. Forward Wisconsin will be participating in this year's show, which will be held August 20, 2008 - August 23, 2008.
