  • The UW-Madison Office of Corporate Relations helps more than 20,000 business people each year access the scientific and technical resources of the University of Wisconsin.

  • The Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF) handles all patents and licensing services pertaining to University of Wisconsin federally-funded inventions. Wisconsin ranks 9th in the nation for the value of royalties and license income per worker.

  • The UW-Madison College of Engineering provides a wide range of resources in research and education for industrial partners ranging from entrepreneurial start-ups to Fortune 500 corporations.

  • Marquette University's Biological and Biomedical Research Institute aids technology transfer through shared instrumentation, genetics analysis computer systems and molecular biology technology.

  • The nonprofit research foundation of Milwaukee’s Medical College of Wisconsin has been transferring research into private industry businesses for 20 years and recently created a new division of Marketing and Licensing.

  • The Center for Technology Transfer is a private, non-profit corporation funded by the Wisconsin Department of Administration's Focus on Energy Program. CTT aids established and early stage companies move new technologies from discovery to successful implementation in the marketplace.

  • The WICell Research Institute is a private non-profit organization established in 1999 to advance stem cell research. 


 

CREATIVE LEADERSHIP

With 81 patents, the University of Wisconsin ranked 6th in the country last year among universities receiving the most annual patents, up from 7th the previous year. Commercialization of those discoveries receives high priority in Wisconsin with state assistance available for business start-ups, expansions, technology initiatives and worker training.
