LOIS: A User's Guide
To view more information about LOIS, click on the links below: The LocationOne® Information System (LOIS) is an Internet-based application that provides state, county, metro, locality, building and site information. It is the first-ever statewide system which any community in Wisconsin can use as its single point of data entry. LOIS is easy to understand and very simple to use. Once the changes are saved on the administration site, the data is instantly published on the web (no approval process required). Communities can even link their portion of LOIS to their own web site. It's easy to use and easy to maintain. Presentation Site (data view) The presentation site is what Internet users see. It displays the data and images entered into the administration site (data entry) on the web. Anyone can access the site from Forward Wisconsin, the Department of Commerce or even from a community's own web site. A web address is created for each community that allows them to place a hyperlink on their web site, which publishes only the data the community wants the public to see. To access this database and conduct a search in that part of the state, visit Wisconsin Sites.
Administration Site (data entry) The administration site is the "behind-the-scenes" password-protected Internet application that permits a community to enter and maintain their data. Each community is assigned a unique username and password. Data management can be assigned to any party, so you decide who will be responsible for the data. The data, once saved, is published instantly on the presentation site (public site). To register to become a user of LOIS, click here.
